To provide local leadership, education, and guidance to the citizens of the County and Commonwealth to ensure the wise use and protection of our precious, natural resources.
Our Objectives
The Conservation District will continue to work closely with conservation organizations, resource management agencies, farm organizations, sportsmen's groups, and the general public to promote erosion and sediment pollution control practices, conservation planning, water-quality improvement, land use planning, and environmental education. The Conservation District office will serve as a single point of contact for citizens in need of assistance with environmental concerns.

The Stonycreek River has been named Pennsylvania's River of the Year by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers.
To commemorate the achievements and efforts that have improved the water quality of the Stonycreek River's 468 square mile watershed the Somerset Conservation District has created a "Restoration Time Line."
