Environmental quality is an essential component to future economic development.
The Somerset Conservation District has long been an active supporter of efforts to improve the economic future of Somerset County. We recognize that improving water quality is one way to attract new industries to the region. We have also been actively involved in local efforts to acquire significant water resources like the Quemahoning Reservoir to help meet current needs for water as well as providing for future growth in the region.
Much of Somerset County's economy is based on recreation and tourism. For this to continue into the future, we have been working hard to ensure that we not only protect the environment for future generations but that we also find ways to improve the damages that was done in the past.
